Audio Tours

What is it?

audio tours walking tour city guide mobile technology gbc guide by cell sms text messaging interpretation interactive visitor servicesLet's face it.  Cell phones are everywhere today.  Your visitors expect the same level of comfort and engagement at home, on the go, and at your institution.

Guide by Cell turns cell phones into interactive audio guides.  Capture the power and accessibility of personal mobile devices to inform and interact with guests.

Best of all, it's EASY to use.

Simply record over the phone or upload audio to create your tour.  Visitors use their cell phones to hear audio content and interact.  Ask your guest to leave feedback, share their thoughts, and even vote.  You can incorporate visitor comments into the tour with the creation of a Cell Blog.  Visitor generated content adds a personal dimension to the tour.  Education was never so engaging!

Repurpose multimedia with our mobile web service to deliver photos and videos.  Our detailed statistics show amazing data about visitor demographics and their interests.  Learn where your visitors come from, what they are interested in, and what they want from your institution.

How it Works

We offer a service that allows you to create self-guided audio tours accessible through any phone (cell or landline).

1. Record the tour.

Call a unique phone number to record the audio prompts, just like recording voice mail. Or simply upload existing audio files (interviews, sound effects, songs) into a specific prompt number.  Your tour is now live!

2. Identify exhibits.

Place small numbered identifier signs adjacent to the items in your tour.

3. Visitors guide themselves.

To access the audio guides, visitors call a local number using their own cell phone, then enter the item they want to hear. It's as easy as that. Visitors may remain connected throughout their visit, or hang up and call back. They may listen to descriptions in any order.

You can add as much interactivity as you like.  Ask your visitors to leave feedback right over the phone. Add a cellblog feature by inserting these voice comments back into the tour.  Allow visitors to press a key to receive a text message with a link to your site, a coupon or a mobile giving request.  Include voting to engage visitors.

Add photos and videos through our MOBI/WAP service.

Weave Mobile Giving into your tour to raise money and build your donor base.

Pricing

1.  Offer the audio guide for free.

You pay Guide by Cell directly, with proceeds coming from your operating budget or from a corporate sponsor or benefactor.  You may insert a sponsorship message at the start of the tour.  In this situation, we either charge your organization on a per user, call or minute basis, or we simply estimate usage and agree on a low fixed monthly fee.

Packages start at $49/month.

2.  Visitors buy the tour over their cell phone.

Visitors call the audio guide phone number, enter their credit card number and begin the tour.  No staff is required to sell the tour.  We use a formula to split the revenue.

3.  You sell the guide upon admittance.

Visitors pay for the guide and their entrance ticket at the same time.  They use an access code to gain entrance into the cell tour.  We use a formula to split the revenue.
